  1. Always wanted to try it but never knew how or when to pick it because I hear it has to be picked at the right stage or it has a toxin. Not even sure if it grows where I live in southern Louisiana.

  2. I'm guessin' Stan thinks its pretty good. So, Wegmans coffee tin? They are up here, HQ'd in Rochester, I worked there through high school and college. Tomorrow, I'm planning an atv ride and take my Solo stove. You convinced me to bring some lump charcoal. I'll start the fire, but charcoal will keep it going.👍👍

  3. Poke is the only greens I refuse to eat or cook. 12 of us kids. When there was no food our mother gave us all a bag and we would pick poke to have something to eat. Guess I hate it so much cause it brings back those memories. Almost forgot, I'm a new subscriber. Enjoyed your video. Glad I couldn't smell it.

  4. Granny would double boil it throw it in with some bacon grease in the ole cast iron and crack some eggs over it love the stuff! 🍽😁

  5. We don't have Pokeweed in this part of Michigan, but 75 miles south it is fairly common….and nobody knows what it is!  Looks good Duke.

  6. I never did like it much, but I sure have picked a lot of it when I spent time with my grandparents. I have some come up in my yard once in a while.

  7. Thanks Duke!! I had always heard of Poke Salad but have never seen it it, nor what goes into making it. How long did you boil it for all together? That looks good, I am going to try and find someway to try some!!

  8. We used ta have bunch off it around home here. Folks told me u had to be careful with that stuff it was poisonous at wrong time year, so I jus avoided it altogether. I've not seen any around in awhile now

  9. Duke, now I know how to harvest pokeweed and make poke salad! Wow, it sure reduces a lot in size! I see where you had to double boil it too. In the end it looks delish! If only we had pokeweed growing up here… Guess I'll have to stick with spinach for now. Great show my buddy! Thanks!

  10. I am so sad, can't find any poke this year. I was going to make a video showing how we always fried it in my family. Butttt….can't do it without any poke. Great video. You made my mouth water.

  11. Why did u pour the water on the tree trunk? What’s the taste like? I remember my momma talking about. Do you freeze it?

  12. Good looking Poke . Those big leaves are good dipped in an egg wash in then battered in corn meal and deep fried 😀
